Acta TRAIA Project

TRAIA Project

Project Overview

As ACTA Consultancy and Trading Co., we set out on a clear mission: to create Türkiye’s first sunflower-based, vegan, high-protein snack. The goal was to develop a product that would be both highly functional and easy to enjoy in daily life—a unique snack that could be consumed directly from the bag, while also being versatile enough to be used with hot water, milk, salads, and other foods.

Beginning in 2024, this project came to life through the coordinated efforts of multiple functions under the ACTA roof. A strong marketing mindset defined the essence of the brand and product concept. An R&D team developed recipes by combining carefully selected ingredients with ACTA’s high-protein sunflower chunks. A dedicated production team created the right environment for the product, packaging, and manufacturing process to come together successfully.

The result of this multidisciplinary effort was the creation of TRAIA and its first products, TRAIA – Sunflower Protein Snacks, marking the beginning of a new plant-based category with strong local roots and international potential.

Vision and Product Concept Development

The project began with a strategic objective: to create an innovative snack built around sunflower protein, offering a new plant-based alternative in the Turkish market.

The concept was designed around three core principles:

  • Innovation – creating a first-of-its-kind sunflower-based vegan snack in Türkiye
  • Nutrition – delivering a high-protein product for modern consumer needs
  • Versatility – developing a snack suitable for direct consumption as well as use in different meal occasions
Brand Creation and Identity Development

Brand Creation and Identity Development

Before building the product itself, ACTA first created the brand that would carry the concept into the market.

After detailed studies and brand development work, the name TRAIA was created by combining:

  • Thrace – the region where the sunflower seeds are harvested
  • Gaia – symbolizing the earth that provides this superfood ingredient

As part of the branding phase, ACTA developed the TRAIA logo inspired by the sunflower, built the visual identity of the brand, and completed the trademark registration process.

Product Strategy and Consumer Usage Design

Product Strategy and Consumer Usage Design

Once the brand was established, the next step was to define how the product would fit into consumers’ lives.

TRAIA – Sunflower Protein Snacks were positioned as both a convenient packaged snack and a versatile food ingredient.

The product concept supports multiple usage methods including:

  • Consuming directly from the bag
  • Preparing with hot water
  • Mixing with milk
  • Adding into salads
  • Using within other foods and meals
Recipe Development and R&D Execution

Recipe Development and R&D Execution

Developing the product itself was one of the most challenging stages of the project.

ACTA’s R&D team created recipes combining high-protein sunflower chunks with carefully selected ingredients.

Two main product variations were developed:

  • A savory version with herbs
  • A sweet version with coconut milk powder sweetened with stevia

Multiple consumer tests and pilot productions were conducted to refine the recipes until the desired taste and functionality were achieved.

Testing, Validation, and Regulatory Compliance

Testing, Validation, and Regulatory Compliance

Once the recipes were finalized, ACTA conducted a full validation phase to ensure the products were market-ready.

This included:

  • Nutritional data analysis
  • Shelf life testing
  • Microbiological testing

Packaging information and labeling were prepared fully compliant with the Türkiye Food Codex.

Packaging Design and Production Preparation

Packaging Design and Production Preparation

Packaging was developed to clearly communicate product benefits and usage methods while reflecting the brand identity.

After finalizing the design, the packaging was printed and prepared for production, ensuring the product would be ready for retail presentation.

Digital Presence and Consumer Communication
